Public Art Projects

 

 2009 – Girdwood Community Mosaic Murals, AK
Designed and created mosaic murals in the picassiette tradition on two concrete cylinders measuring 9 feet by 3 feet and 5 feet by 3 feet with community members.

2007 – Fine Arts Camp Mosaic Mural, Girdwood, AK
Created an outdoor, weather-proof mosaic mural in the picassiette tradition on a concrete cylinder, 12 feet in diameter and 3 feet tall, with 24 students aged 8 – 14.

1999 – Recycling Bins, Ventura, CA 

Contracted with Ventura County Solid Waste Management to paint murals on 4 recycling bins along the Rincon with artist Lynne Okun and adolescents from Teen Dreams.

 

1992 – Kids’ Arts Portable Murals, Ventura, CA. 

Received a grant from the Ventura Arts Council to create 2 portable murals with the children in the Kids’ Arts creative arts program.

1991 – Westpark Community Center, Northside Mural, Ventura, CA. 
Received matching grants from the Ventura Arts Council, the City of Ventura and Security Pacific Bank to design and paint a 500 square foot mural, entitled “Community Pride” with help from gang members, school children and other area residents.

1990 – Downtown Christmas Banners, Ventura, CA. 
Won the Ventura Downtown Merchant’s competition for banner designs.  The designs were made into 52 banners, which were displayed in the downtown area during the Christmas season from 1990 through 1994.

 

 

Teaching and Professional Experience

1995 – 2000          Kids’ Arts, Ventura, CA

Co-administrator

§         Administrated a non-profit creative arts program for at-risk youth.

§         Developed and implements programs, including Teen Dreams in Ventura.

§         Wrote grants which have resulted in increased funding and expansion.

§         Recruited teachers, volunteers and participants.
